World Supersport San Juan, Argentina - Race Results (1)
Jules Cluzel led every lap of World Supersport race one at San Juan to claim his second consecutive win of 2021, and his third from three tries at the Argentine venue.
Can Oncu made a brilliant start from fourth to challenge pole sitter Jules Cluzel into turn one, however, the Puccetti Kawasaki rider had to settle for P2 after a lovely switchback from the French rider heading towards turn two.
As Cluzel and Oncu began to slowly break clear of Steven Odendaal on lap two, Manuel Gonzalez made his way past the South African for third.
On lap four it was the turn of championship leader Dominique Aegerter to make his way past Odendaal.
The Bardahl Yamaha rider slipped back even further after running off-track at the penultimate corner. The error put Odendaal down in seventh.
At the front, Cluzel began to slowly edge away from Oncu, while Gonzalez kept a watching brief on the Turkish rider.
There was a crash for Matias Petratti on lap seven, while Odendaal made his way back into fifth.
Gonzalez managed to close the gap between himself and Oncu to under half a second on lap eight, before a move eventually came five laps later.
Behind a battling Gonzalez and Oncu, Odendaal closed in on Aegerter who was struggling in sector two especially.
Odendaal then got ahead of Aegerter heading into turn seven, but Aegerter managed to keep touch before attempting to reclaim P4 at turn one. Aegerter ran deep into the corner which allowed Odendaal back through. The top five remained unchanged through to the chequered flag.
