Martins takes maiden F3 win as title contenders Hauger & Doohan fail to score
Starting from fifth on the grid, Martins ultimately claimed the lead on Lap 16, ultimately winning at his team’s home venue at Zandvoort.
Martins’ maiden victory keeps him in the title fight as he sits third behind Hauger and Doohan.
The Prema driver hit trouble after the Safety Car period on Lap 23, picking up a right-rear puncture after contact with Ido Cohen at Turn 3.
It was the perfect opportunity to capitalise, but an off-track execution dropped him well down the order.
Behind Martins was Clement Novalak and Frederik Vesti, who was disappointed not to win at Zandvoort.
Caio Collet finished fourth in the second MP Motorsport, beating David Schumacher and Olli Caldwell.
Arthur Leclerc was ahead of Jak Crawford, while Matteo Nannini and Logan Sargeant rounded out the top 10.
Looking ahead to Sunday’s feature race, Hauger is in the prime position to take all 25 points from pole position.
Doohan will have to recover from fourth on the grid, behind Trident teammate David Schumacher and Martins.
