The American outfit look set for another difficult campaign, with new team boss Ayao Komatsu admitting the first race in Bahrain is likely going to be a struggle. There’s no chance to the team’s driver line-up with Nico Hulkenberg set to race alongside Kevin Magnussen.
Hulkenberg enjoyed a strong comeback - his first full season since 2019 - impressing in qualifying. However, the German vocally expressed his frustration about Haas’ development - so keeping him happy will be a challenge for Komatsu. On the other hand, Magnussen will need an up-turn in performance if he’s going to retain his drive for 2025.
Haas are F1’s newest team on the grid, joining the circus back in 2016. Immediately from the off, Haas - unlike the trio of teams which famously entered in 2010 - scored points on their debut. Haas built on this into 2017 and 2018 as Ferrari’s power unit improved.
Still to this date, 2018 is Haas’ best F1 season, securing fifth in the constructors’ championship. The subsequent five seasons have been underwhelming for Haas with their reliance on Ferrari not really paying off.
Consequently, many have questioned how long until Gene Haas decides to sell the team.
