Frijns takes maiden Formula E win in rain-hit Paris E-Prix

Robin Frijns picked up his maiden Formula E victory in Paris on Saturday after weathering a storm of wet weather and on-track incidents to win for Envision Virgin Racing.

Starting third on the grid, Frijns managed to move into the lead for Virgin early on after Nissan saw its high hopes following a front row lock-out quickly fade when Oliver Rowland and Sebastien Buemi both dropped back.

Frijns managed to stay cool at the front of the field despite a short, sharp shower - making this the first Formula E race in history to be hit by wet weather - that resulted in a Full Course Yellow being called, with the Safety Car coming out late on after a crash between Alex Lynn and Edoardo Mortara.

Frijns was able to keep DS Techeetah's Andre Lotterer at bay in the final two minutes of green-flag running to cross the line and clinch his first win in Formula E, as well as becoming the eighth different winner in as many races this season. The result also catapults Frijns into the lead of the drivers' championship, one point clear of Lotterer.

Audi drivers Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi took P3 and P4 respectively ahead of Dragon's Maximilian Guenther, who recorded his best Formula E result in fifth place.

Jean-Eric Vergne bounced back from a difficult qualifying session to finish sixth, making up eighth places through the race, ahead of Antonio Felix da Costa and Gary Paffett.

Felipe Massa claimed two points in ninth place for Venturi, while Pascal Wehrlein recovered from his qualifying exclusion to finish the race 10th for Mahindra.
