Visa Cash App RB in 2024

A new season and a new team identity for Red Bull’s sister team. AlphaTauri will now be known as Visa Cash App RB from 2024.

RB retain Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo as they look to build on a strong second half to last season. With a closer alliance to Red Bull, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see RB lead the midfield pack comprehensively.

It’s all change in terms of the management with Franz Tost bowing out of the team at the end of 2023.

Former Ferrari engineer Laurent Mekies is the new team principal, while Peter Bayer - formerly of the FIA - is RB’s CEO.

Visa Cash App RB's F1 history

Founded as Toro Rosso in 2006, the Fazena-based outfit has acted as Red Bull’s junior team which has primarily focused on nurturing young talent. Sebastian Vettel was the first superstar to come through Toro Rosso, winning the team’s first race at the 2008 Italian Grand Prix.

Vettel was promoted for 2009, ultimately winning his - and Red Bull’s - first title a year later. The Toro Rosso alumni is impressive with Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen all getting the call-up to the main team.

In search of the ‘next Verstappen’, things have been trickier for drivers coming through Toro Rosso (or AlphaTauri) with Red Bull opting for Sergio Perez after Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon failed to live up to expectations. In 2024, new CEO Bayer outlined his plan to make the team more than just one centred around helping Red Bull find their next generational talent, calling for much-needed experience in at least one of the seats.
